CEO & Co-Founder, Flatbridge Trust
In Partnership with SOTRO — Sanctuary of the Rastafarian Order Ministry
Pioneer in Ital Finance & Community Wealth
Peter Watson is the Chief Executive Officer and Co-Founder of Flatbridge Trust, a faith-rooted financial institution built on the sacred economic teachings of SOTRO – the Sanctuary of the Rastafarian Order Ministry. Tasked with bringing SOTRO’s divine vision of interest-free, ethical lending to life, Peter developed Flatbridge into a living example of Ital economics in action.
Born in St. Catherine, Jamaica, and later educated in community development and post-colonial law in Canada, Peter returned to Jamaica with a mission: to dismantle exploitative financing systems and restore ancestral economics rooted in trust, transparency, and divine justice.
Through his collaboration with the Elders of SOTRO, Peter helped design and launch Rasta Banking™ — a revolutionary lending model that rejects riba (interest), Babylonian debt traps, and extractive capitalism. Flatbridge Trust now stands as the financial arm of a larger spiritual-economic awakening.
Funded over $5M USD in agricultural, artisan, and MSME development through profit-sharing instead of interest
Developed crop-based collateral models for Maroon and Indigenous communities
Provided faith-compliant financing for ventures aligned with Ital living: clean food, culture, education, and land-based healing
Peter reports directly to the SOTRO Council of Elders, ensuring that all financial instruments are compliant with Rastafari law, biblical economics, and the Ital covenant. He sees himself not just as a financier, but as a servant to the spiritual nation — bridging ancestral law and modern application.
An advocate for Indigenous capital sovereignty, Peter regularly speaks at forums such as:
UN Permanent Forum on Indigenous Issues
Africa-Caribbean Economic Dialogues
Trade Network summits
He also cultivates a 5-acre regenerative farm in Portland Parish, where he grows turmeric, moringa, and scotch bonnet while training youth in economic self-determination.
“Flatbridge Trust is not a bank. It’s a covenant. One that says your dignity and destiny are not for sale.”
